<p>The heat this process generates all through and directly after your exercises must be removed from your body to preserve your normal temperature.  Perspiration helps the body preserve a stable temperature.  Thus, you perspire because your body is using carbohydrates, fats, or proteins to create energy for your workout and for recovery.</p>
<p>Like my friend, many people only want to get straight to the sweating and not perform the workouts.  Accordingly, they get into the sauna (even without working out), wear additional thermal clothing while performing gentle calisthenics, or even wrap themselves with a garbage bag, all for the purpose of generating extra sweat.</p>
<p>But, what is going on is they are adding heat to their body in a sauna or keeping heat from leaving the body with thermal insulating garments.  So they perspire.  But, the perspiration is not resulting from the production of energy which burns fat.  They sweat because their environment is hot. Not only that, but, with all that sweating, they have only lost the weight of water (as perspiration) that has evaporated from their body, while the fat remains.</p>
